Angel Food Ministries


Angel Food is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief to communities throughout the United States. The program began with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia in 1994 and has grown to serve tens of thousands of families across the United States. Angel Food crosses all denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each box of food.

Angel Food's menu's are sold by the box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu consists of both fresh, canned and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. One box of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one would purchase at a common retailer -- not damaged or outdated goods.
There is no limit to the number of boxes an individual can purchase and there are no applications or qualifications. Because Angel food Ministries is a non-profit organization, food purchased to donate to someone in need may be fully tax-deductible as a charitable donation. Angel food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.
Food sales and distribution are handled by the church. Orders and payments are collected at First Assembly during the first part of the month, then turned in to the Angel Food home office in Monroe, Georgia on a predetermined date. The following week, we pick up the food from the Angel Food warehouse to fill the orders on distribution day.
On distribution day, church volunteers come together to perform duties ranging from setting up and filling boxes to cleanup or assisting disabled or elderly customers with carrying their boxes to their cars. Customers are to bring their own boxes or baskets to be filled.
